Do It Together
Math is all around us - even when we are having a bath!
Share this book together and talk about what types of things you and your child can count and add during bathtime. When they are in the bath, count something like the toys in the bathtub and how many there will be if you add one more.
Once your child understands this idea, you can practice counting and adding together with other objects around the house.
Why?
This book introduces the idea of “counting on” - that when we add one to another number, we get the answer by counting on to the next number (e.g. 1+2=3).
With multiple readings, this book will give your child an understanding of early addition that will help them later when they get to school. It will also show them how much fun bath time can be, even while getting their hair washed!
